Thanks for speaking to this. It’s definitely a part of the way that patriarchy gets upheld. I often tell men of the NotAllMen type that even though I don’t believe that I have ever actively participated in marginalizing other women, as a white woman, I take what non-whites have said about the way they feel seriously and believe that whether or not I’ve ever personally done something, the dynamic exists. My response to that is not to say, “That wasn’t me.” My response is to see how I can become a part of the solution and not a continuation of the problem and I encourage them to do the same.
