Thanks for this - I definitely think some of this that I've encountered is just what you're saying - being steeped in the culture around you and what it teaches. However, unlike you who was eager to learn, a lot of these guys have no desire to broaden their understanding or learn anything new - even if it's all around them every day on Medium.
