Thanks for this really on point and intelligent piece. Part of the problem is that dominance, aggression, sexual conquest and control of women are all mainstream "traditional" masculine norms. Not every guy internalized them to the same extent (or at all) but every man is exposed to and pressured to uphold them to some extent.

Guys who are up in arms about this "thought experiment" ARE a part of the problem, because they are the ones turning a blind eye to the lifetime of bad experiences that nearly every woman has had. They are pretending like the bad apples aren't a product of mainstream cultural norms, and they aren't doing anything to encourage young men to treat women with more respect.

And most saliently is your question about what they are afraid of us finding out.
