Wolf packs are made up of the breeding male and the breeding female and their offspring of the past 1–3 years. In many ways, they are remarkably cooperative, even if there is some hierarchy. The alpha (breeding) male doesn’t always eat first, and the alpha female may be the ultimate leader of the pack. Their primary job as alphas is to look out for the rest of the pack, keep them safe, and make sure that everyone eats. It’s not a dominance hierarchy in the classic sense, although I get what you are saying. They certainly do exist in the animal kingdom.
