Thanks for your comment and yes, I totally get that. I haven’t watched the news in 25 years because I just can’t subject myself to that level of negativity. I know what’s happening in the world, but I try to hold a lot of it at arm’s length and only engage with what I know I can have an impact on. Otherwise, it’s too overwhelming.

I was just telling someone else this morning about how I’ve been on this quest to stop trying to control things because it’s been making me crazy. For example, I can’t get my elderly mom to leave her home and move into a retirement community even though I worry about her safety and wellbeing. I finally just had to release that. She’s an adult and she can make her own choices. I have to concentrate on making my choices and creating my own life and allow her to do the same. Easier said than done some days, but overall I do feel lighter and more empowered.

I’m sending you hugs and best wishes because this is a tough thing for anyone particularly if they are at all sensitive. But as Brene Brown says, catostrophizing doesn’t actually prevent the bad things from happening. It just robs you of any joy in the present. I keep reminding myself of that. Hang in there…..

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
