Thanks for your response. I’m glad to hear that this topic is being discussed. I also edit a publication and although it’s not nearly as large or as busy, it’s very important to me that everything we publish supports and affirms what we have declared that we stand for. I read each submission thoroughly to ensure that. Sometimes I get some help from a part-time co-editor whom I have vetted to ensure that she holds the same values and is on the same page. If things are slipping through the cracks sometimes that tends to indicate that perhaps your editors are not truly all on the same page or that some of your submitting writers do not understand what GMP actually is all about. It can be challenging to educate writers, as I know from experience, but that’s where editors have to really do their job.

As I mentioned to Mark, another woman told me yesterday that she has complained 4 different times about things in GMP stories that she found to be misogynistic — with no response and no change. I have long admired the work that your organization is doing in the world, which is the primary reason that I’ve raised these concerns. I want to see GMP do well and continue to spread its message in a way that can be believed and taken seriously, where the message is clear and consistent. I don’t mean to tell you your business, but these slips through the cracks really dilute your message, erode trust, and make it seem like a bunch of virtue-signalling men who don’t actually understand or believe in what they say they do. I don’t really think that is the case here, but the optics aren’t great.

Wishing you all the best.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
