Thanks for your thoughtful comment and I get the nuance here. It's perhaps a matter of opinion whether matriarchal is the proper term or not. I don't think it is, but others in those cultures may disagree depending on their own assessment and definitions. In any case, I hope we can agree that women in mainstream America pressuring younger women to have children is not a function of matriarchy.
