Thanks, I didn't go further into this because the essay was getting long, but there have been something like 140 wars since the end of WWII, most of them civil wars, where it's not just guys in uniforms fighting each other in a field, but lots of civilians being hurt or killed, and lots of of collateral violence in the form of disease, starvation, and suicide. Of course, we had some of that with the World Wars (and other prior) ones, but we've changed the way that wars are fought, which doesn't mean they are truly fewer of them or that they are less violent.
