I think there are a lot of people, including a lot of younger women, who consider themselves sex-positive who watch porn, most likely because it was available to them at a young age and so they’ve never considered it to be problematic. Again, that’s fine for adults to use as entertainment, but for me, it’s just one of those things that once you scratch the surface even a little bit, it starts to become a lot less savory.

I may possibly at some point do a companion piece about how abusive and dysfunctional the industry is in general, and how watching cheap or free porn is most likely supporting sex trafficking and other types of harm to young women, many of whom already come from abuse and violence. Jenna Jameson’s biography would be Exhibit A. It’s called How To Make Love Like A Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale.
