That certainly is a part of the issue, the perception that men are actually losing a lot (while at the same time they are whining about how they don't truly benefit from patriarchy). Men need to focus on all the things that they could potentially be gaining. Aside from the fact that men in more gender-equal countries have better health, longer lives, and more happiness, there are a lot more opportunities to just be yourself rather than who you've been told you "ought" to be.
The APA recently issued new guidelines for working with boys and men after assessing 40 years of research and determining that "traditional" masculinity is emotionally and psychologically harmful to men. But it seems like the majority of men would rather try to dispute that than to take it to heart. We're definitely in for a bumpy ride, for sure.
