That's because the system is still designed for one person who goes out into the world and does things and another person who stays home and takes care of everything on the Homefront. It's not designed for co-parenting, or co-sharing of household chores.
But thanks for this clear-eyed look at what parenting is like. It certainly has worthwhile aspects but probably shouldn't be idealized the way it tends to be - and really isn't for everyone. I love my son so much, but I often wonder if I would have made the decision to have children knowing what I know now.
