That's like saying that Black Lives Matter is offensive because it doesn't acknowledge that all lives matter - and instead of asking for Black lives to no longer be devalued, it's asking for Black Supremacy. Women have been systematically disempowered for 5 thousand years. Rectifying that benefits everyone and gives everyone more choices and fewer gender-based restrictions, but the fact of the matter is, the focus is and should be on improving the lives of women because that's where the deficit lies (as far as gender goes). In a patriarchal system, women are "supposed" to take care of men and children first and to put themselves last. Feeling discomfort that they actually want to put their own interests to the fore is a manifestation of that dynamic. It way well be subconscious and not at all from ill intent, but it is a large part of the issue with this, I think. Imagining that feminism is about female supremacy is yet another manifestation of patriarchy - where there can be no win-win, only zero-sum constructs where someone has to lose in order for someone else to win. You not buying into that is a good first step in helping to create a more win-win kind of world.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
