That's my only point. There is a lot of work left to do. I haven't said there's been no progress or that we shouldn't hold out hope. But minimizing the very real trauma and blatant disenfranchisement that women still face every day in every aspect of the culture is the reason that so many women are done with men, and think they are problematic. Dominant demographics wagging a finger at marginalized ones and telling them to focus on the good stuff is out of line every time.

I apologize for misgendering your son. It's hard to see well with the small pictures, and I'm glad you are teaching them that women are people too, but you're falling into the problem that too many progressive men do, in wanting to be on the "right side" of things (which is good) but not wanting to accept all the ways that women are struggling, and being harmed by masculine culture because that indicts you too, even if you're trying. Put yourself aside and stop making it about you. The UN says that 1/3 of the women around the world will be beaten or raped, mostly by intimate partners and other family members. That's not remotely close to being an "acceptable" level, and as previously noted, violence against women is escalating world-wide. I'm not inclined to do much celebrating while the house is still on fire.

Edit: You wanted more current data, so here it is:

It is the longest-running and most comprehensive study of women’s representation in film available. The percentage of females in speaking roles declined from 37% in 2022 to 35% in 2023, and the number of female characters in major roles remained the same at 38%. The percentage of films with female protagonists contracted from 33% in 2022 to 28% in 2023.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
