That’s so interesting — thanks for posting the link. Sounds like I’m adding yet another book to the stack of ones I want to read. I was only partially tongue-in-cheek when I wrote this; I do think it’s actually quite possible. In early patriarchy women were considered wild, dangerously carnal, powerful (also dangerously so). That’s what all that witch burning was about — powerful women who aren’t living under the thumb of men being seen as a threat. It would make perfect sense if more docile women were the ones who were more likely to mate and produce offspring under the new order.
