I too really hate how most media depicts all the bad parts of poly where people aren't actually being true to the ethos of it, and then pretending like that's inevitable. "Newness" on Netflix was one of those - Ugh! But it still goes against societal norms and isn't all that juicy to show people being drama-free and communicating well, working things out, and being responsible for their own emotions, etc.
