That's why I write about this so often, because it seems like such a stupid and harmful narrative to cling to, and yet, I did too for a long time because I'd been taught I should - until the time when I no longer did.

One of the things that I want to explore more fully is how the zero-sum mentality of a patriarchal dominance hierarchy actually fosters insecurity. It will take a lot to set the stage for that to be comprehensible to someone who is new to this concept of a social ranking system based in fear, so I haven't gotten around to it ... yet. But this whole idea that someone might "take what's ours" is such a huge part of patriarchy. Different types of social systems don't seem to have that.

I also want to explore how this kind of patriarchal social model is so heteronormative because to do otherwise violates many of its primary tenets. So many story ideas, so little time.....
