The IAT is one measurement of potential racism, and although it's a pretty strong indicator, it's not necessarily a slam dunk. Upon looking into it further, it turns out there are a lot of questions with how the test correlates to real life behavior and in some quarters it's only considered to be 44% accurate. Systemic racism is so entrenched and such a deep part of our society that I'd have to do more research before declaring that being "race neutral" on the IAT is sufficient to clear some of any subconscious beiefs that might contribute to upholding a racist society.

I'm willing to add the Pew study in as an addendum but the title is not misleading at all. As I said before, I wrote about other types of unconscious belief, and all whites do have unconscious biases about something (because everyone has it about something), so that is not a false statement. The conclusion I drew a few lines down may or may not still be accurate, depending on how valid you think the IAT really is, but you certainly could have brought the Pew study to my attention in a way that adds to the discussion rather than as a way to tell me I'm an idiot who clearly didn't do any research (in a story filled with research). 🙄

Despite your rudeness and belligerence, I'm adding the Pew study in as an edit at the bottom.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
