The issue with such a belief is that overwhelmingly, people are not rational individuals. Cognitive science says only about 2% of what we consider to be thought is conscious (and some scientists think none is). Most of who we are and what we say and do comes out of things buried in our subconscious minds - absorbed from parents, peers, culture, religion, media, etc. Our only hope (I believe) is to begin putting fairer, more equitable narratives out into the culture to be absorbed. It's not a quick or perfect process, and only a few individuals will truly take it on in an intentional way. And, at the same time, change the ocean that we swim in, and it changes how the fish think and behave.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
