The only grotesque part is the judgement and potential negative consequences for the children based on said judgement. The adults in question aren't the problem. They are communicating, and working through things with compassion and empathy. They are a shining beacon of what human relationships can be like if people are kind, collaborative, and want the best for each other. The grotesque ones are the haters who don't know how to mind their own business.
