The point is that violence against women is something that both the CDC and the WHO recognize as being at epidemic levels. And also that this is not something that has existed since the beginning of human history as the author suggested. It's about being factual.
And speaking of keeping it factual, I haven't actually said that certain relationships are unethical. I've said that marriage as we know it is comes out of the social system of patriarchy, and so it almost can't help but retain vestiges of that even in modern times. Prior to 6-9 thousand years ago, when patriarchy first emerged, women were social and sexual equals of men and noboby much cared who the father of her children were because A) there was no way to determine it for sure without the sexual control of women that only began with patriarchy and B) because the main survival strategy was for everyone in the tribe to take care of everyone else, including all children.
If you don't care about sociology, that's fine, but if you don't care about facts, that's sort of an issue.
