There was no vitriol — just telling it like it is about the high level of rudeness and condescenion you exhibited with your response. Since you aren’t a subject matter expert (and I am) why did you assume that I didn’t know what I was talking about and that I was making assumptions (rather than that you were not well informed on the latest research)?

This OP was also well researched and filled with quotes from anthropologists and other subject matter experts, but you found your way to discount that based on nothing but your own biases and lack of expertise, so don’t put this on me that I should have done something different.

Perhaps a better mannered approach for you when you come across something that surprises you, even when you acknowledge that you can’t refute it, would be to ask questions that help you to better understand the topic rather than attacking the writer as not knowing what she’s talking about.
