There's a lot of BS out there about Twin Flames and I can absolutely see how some people fall into unhealthy dynamics, particularly when they have been led by those who don't truly know what they are talking about. And, my personal experience with a Twin Flame connection has been incredibly healing and led me to a lot of personal growth. That doesn't mean it's been easy. In fact, it's been quite challenging but it has also forced me to grow emotionally and spiritually in the way that is sometimes "advertised."
People who are expecting that their TF is their one true love, or their soulmate (a TF and a soulmate are different things), are going to be in for a rude awakening. A Twin Flame conneciton is primarily a spiritual one and although 3D relationships can take place, that's not the main point or likely to be the person who you live with, marry, etc. Once you understand that, and get that the larger purpose is for you to come into greater love and understanding of yourself, that's when a true TF dynamic is taking place.
I was involved with my Twin for 2 years before I even knew to call it that, although that was when a lot of the really unusual things we'd been through together suddenly made perfect sense. We've been in each other's lives for 6 years, and are still learning to some extent, but have also come a long way in growth and maturity. People who go looking for a Twin Flame, or who think that's their one true love, are likely to be mislead by charlatans, of which there are many out there. But that doesn't mean that this sort of connection isn't real. It just means that a lot of people don't actually understand it properly and try to shoehorn it into more conventional boxes, often to ill effect.
"The Twin Flame journey is in many ways a journey of letting go… of who we were told we were. Away from what we were told the world and relationships and love were all about."
