There’s an awful lot of domestic terrorism that is perpetrated by angry White men, including most school shootings. We need to be looking at how our culture, which is based in a dominance hierarchy, contributes to that situation. This includes the way that it marginalizes and alienates these men into believing that shooting things up is the answer to their problems.

We also ought to have a lot better requirements around gun safety, training, and such, more along the lines of the Japanese model. When guns are just laying around, people tend to use them, on themselves and on others who are not necessarily intruders or rapists. I don’t completely know what all the answers are in that regard, but although responsible gun ownerships should be allowed, it really ought to be looked at as more of a privilege than a right.

I think I need to change my profile descriptor to “Moving away from patriarchy and towards partnership” because I do believe it’s the fix (or at least improvement) to all of our social ills.
