There's no such thing as a gender-neutral home. Even parents who really try to do this are subject to all sorts of unconscious biases and if this really were the case, why is she shouldering all the "women's work" in her own home? But you're right, if she's never felt threatened by men or feared for her safety from them, she's lucky and it's not your place to try to change her mind.
