This entire fucked up trade-off that I (and most women) was indoctrinated into is a patriarchal structure - something that feminism is trying to challenge - for the benefit of us all, I might add. It forces women to give up everything that they want for themselves in order to serve the needs of the men and children in their lives. When those people don't make them happy in return, then get resentful. The answer to this conundrum is actually feminism, whereby women feel empowered to consider their own needs and wants as well as those of their families. They are empowered to pursue their own happiness, and that is what actually leads to a better world for everyone.
