This is all a function of living in a dominance hierarchy (patriarchy) for the past 10K years. When the name of that game is to step on others as ruthlessly as you can in order to rise on the pyramid of hierarchy, people who reject that seem suspect and must be virtue-signaling or otherwise disingenuous. But for the prior 97% of human history, humans lived very cooperatively, so maybe there is some hope.
