This is patriarchy trying to defend itself and it's bullshit. For 97% of human history, humans survived because of our ability to cooperate and collaborate. Enforced egalitarianism was our primary survival strategy. Humans have an intense urge for autonomy and to resist the so called alpha or the general. For thousands of years, mayors and kings only had influence directly in front of them. Everyone else did what they wanted to because THAT is how humans are truly wired. I don't necessarily blame you for believing what patriarchy has taught you is "natural" but it's really just a fairy story. It’s a dynamic that is only a couple of thousand years old, and only exists in certain cultures. It’s not remotely “human nature.”
