This is something that I'm still trying to wrap my head around, and the pushback I encounter seems to be quite emotion-laden. The only thing I can think of is that in a patriarchal dominance hierarchy, you either win or lose, and admitting that you've been doing things that lead to your own misery doesn't sound like what a "winner" does. After all, a man is supposed to be "in control' and "leading the way" and to discover that masculine culture has actually been really bad for everyone - including men - must feel pretty confrontational to some. But still.... the distinct lack of logic or reason in railing against anyone who brings this up I find pretty surprising.
