This is the crux - in cultures where men are not expected to indicate masculinity by dominating others, particularly women (as a way, perhaps to show they are NOT women -which is a key element of American masculinity) then rape doesn't really exist, or if it should happen, is severely punished and stigmatized. Rape isn't about sex - it's about power (using sex as a weapon). That's why it is so often a weapon of war.

Glad to hear that you've spoken up publicly about this being a men's issue. This is exactly what we need to begin to turn the tide on this stuff is for men to talk about that aspect and to take it on.
