This is what patriarchy is - a dominance based hierarchy that is maintained through shows of force, threats, and bullying - a system of social stratification that goes way beyond power differentials between men and women. It's a zero-sum construct where might makes right and if you don't win you lose - and it is the root cause of all of our social ills. It seems to be lost on most of these guys who really buy into this system how much it hurts them too to always be in competition with those around you, looking to make yourself feel better by making someone else feel worse. It's isolating, dysfunctional, and anti-social. But they are too busy trying to climb up the pecking order at the expense of other people to notice.
