This kind of rhetoric is absurd when the the population is nearly 8 billion. Frankly, the earth would probably thank us if we cut that in half (which is ironically, the plot of a Marvel movie). Not saying we should disappear half the people of earth, but a little attrition wouldn't hurt us one bit.

You've really laid it out so well here how clearly this is all based in patriarchal narratives and expectations and the indoctrination is so deep that even thoughtful, well-educated people often don't seem to notice.
