This was brilliant! In both of Peggy Orenstein's books it becomes readily apparent that the younger generation very much wants to interrupt this "relationship escalator." Unfortunately, the way they are doing it is with a hook-up culture that is built around pretending that you don't even particularly like the other person and only got together because you were drunk. It would be a lot healthier and saner to embrace a world where people can connect in intimate ways without any next steps being assumed or expected.
