Trump is a racist because he has a long history of saying and doing overtly racist things. How is it that you are glossing over that? The fact that the demographic that voted for him the most also says overtly racist things is secondary. But then there is also the fact that the FBI says that hate crimes have escalated to peak highs in the localities where Trump decisively won the vote (because he has signaled to them with his own racist comments that it is fine to also do that). I’m sorry, but you are working really, really hard to ignore a whole bunch of facts and data in favor of saying that we have no way to know who someone is based on many, many years of their own words and deeds. That just doesn’t hold water.

When Trump was serving as the president of his family’s real estate company, the Trump Management Corporation, in 1973, the Justice Department sued the company for alleged racial discrimination against black people looking to rent apartments in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

Workers at Trump’s casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey, have accused him of racism over the years. The New Jersey Casino Control Commission fined the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino $200,000 in 1992 because managers would remove African-American card dealers at the request of a certain big-spending gambler. A state appeals court upheld the fine.

The first-person account of at least one black Trump casino employee in Atlantic City suggests the racist practices were consistent with Trump’s personal behavior toward black workers.”

Just last week he said that American citizens born in this country should “go back to where they came from” because they are dark-skinned. C’mon Dave — you aren’t making any sense here. This is not the interpretations of news outlets or politicos — it’s right out there in black and white (slight pun) in his own words and the public record of his deeds for you and anyone else to judge for themselves. It’s not mind-reading; it’s patently obvious! What about Obama wasn’t born here? He led the charge on that one. What about saying that protesters doing Nazi salutes and chants were “fine people”? If you don’t see those things as overtly racist, perhaps we need to re-evaluate our friendship.

The data about the demographics of who voted for Trump that you are referencing came from the Brookings Institute, a non-political think tank whose data is used and referenced equally by conservatives and liberals. It’s not from left-wing haters as you have seemed to indicate.

You are the one making the inference that non-college educated people must be dumb. You are the one who is reading the minds of the people who are concerned that the president of our country is unfit to hold that position for a wide variety of substantive reasons and assuming that they are expressing this concern out of hate. You’ve always struck me as a very measured, reasonable, and sensible guy, so I don’t know what exactly has brought about this strange refusal to see what is right there in front of you. Racism isn’t only about hate; it’s about believing that people can only be the stereotype of their demographic rather than individuals, and Trump is the king of that!

“And isn’t it funny. I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and Trump Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it,” O’Donnell recalled Trump saying. “The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”

“I think the guy is lazy,” Trump said of a black employee, according to O’Donnell. “And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.”

Alright, I’m going to give this all a rest for now. I wish you well, but please consider that the only one reading minds in this is you. The uninterpreted facts about Donald Trump speak for themselves.
