Um, actually there is an obligation to do so (at least in the US -most other Western countries have something similar). It’s called the Americans With Disabilities Act. “the ADA also requires covered employers to provide reasonable accommodations to employees with disabilities.”
A reasonable accommodation is an adjustment made in a system to accommodate or make fair the same system for an individual based on a proven need. That need can vary. Accommodations can be religious, physical, mental or emotional, academic, or employment related and are often mandated by law.
In the case of something like this, they should have excused her from doing the press at the French Open provided that she used that time to get appropriate support. Instead they said, “We support her” and then proceeded to fine her. That’s not showing actual support. Should she be excused from doing press indefinitely? Probably not, but that’s not what is at issue here.
