Unfortunately, versions of this happen all of the time, where women are made responsible for male behavior (as crazy and retrograde as that seems). “What was she wearing?” is still brought up in sexual assault and rape trials, to the point where someone finally did an art installation to showcase how often the clothing is just regular t-shirts and pants — but it’s still a pretty strong cultural narrative, although slightly better than it used to be.

  • A recent study found that almost one in 10 people in Sweden agreed that gender-based violence against women is often provoked by the victim herself. One survivor told Amnesty International: ”I even got that comment from my mother. She said ’I have always tried to teach you how to dress.’”

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
