Unless you've got the self-confidence, being empathetic can come off as needy or clingy and that tends to be a turn-off. I really recommend that you stop trying to meet someone (for now) and concentrate on "dating yourself." Figure out what really lights you up and then learn more about and do more those things, keep working on your mental health, get to where you really like and value you yourself, because until you reach that point, it's unlikely that anyone else will either.
