Until 60 years ago women were second class citizens by law in the US. They couldn't get a credit card or a home loan in their own name, couldn't to Ivy League colleges, could be barred from juries for being female or fired for being pregnant. They could legally be paid less for doing the exact same job with the same qualifications. It wasn't until 1993 that marital rape was a crime in all 50 US states. Being upset about that and the echos of that which continue even though the laws have been repealed is not misandry. Patriarchy is responsible for all social ills - not just sexism, because it's a dominance based hierarchy that is maintained through coercion, violence, and the maintenance of traditional power.
And India is an extremely patriarchal country as well, harming women, and others with less social power in a variety of ways that are deeply enshrined in the culture. So, talking about how that's not really the issue isn't actually going to fly with me. Patriarchy harms men too, in all sorts of ways, and I write about those a lot as well. And I'd be happy to talk to you about that or link you some of the things I've written about that.
