Well I do know and they are 50% less likely to be called for an interview with the exact same qualifications.

Saying that having a non-white sounding name signifies a reluctance to assimilate is just the kind of unconscious bias that needs to be talked about and addressed. It's assuming that being as white as possible is best, most desirable, most likely to do a good job and fit in. Do you honestly not understand this is exactly what "white supremacy" means?

I'm not going to spend any more time answering your other comments, but you have made it clear that people talking about systemic racism or sexism are behaving like "victims" and that it is disruptive and unloving to talk about what privilege actually is and means. You said that stuff, not me, and as you may notice, I didn't actually blame anyone (but the Penguin) in any of my comments. I simply pointed out that he wrote a race-baiting, self-congratulatory story that talks out of both sides of his mouth, because he knows full well that economics are not the only metric of privilege and then conveniently forgot that in the interest of claps and stirring up divisiveness and hate.

It doesn't matter whether you personally have done anything. You are a part of a society which you help to co-create and for which you benefit from inequality, whether you want to or have asked to or not. If your neighbors' house was on fire would you say, "I didn't start it" or would you grab a bucket and try to help put it out? If you're a humanist, than be one.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
