Well, this is one of the more nuanced and thoughtful things I've ever heard from you although I don't agree with you 100%, e.g., J.K. Rowling is a raging transphobe, and I'm not sure why that isn't readily apparent, but in general, putting out a call for taking time to sort through a complex set of circumstances does make sense. As you've said, that needs to be done with integrity and respect, but there are few easy cut and dried answers.
