Well, you get bonus points in my book for figuring that out before reading, because that is the complete point of my story. I come across as confident and taking up energetic (and literal) space and in a culture very bought into a gender binary, that's reads as masculine, so these men say this without even thinking about it (because it's in their subconscious).
