We've all grown up in a culture where we are intensely indoctrinated into gender norms from birth and messaged about that all our lives. It's deeply in our subconscious minds, but that doesn't make it "natural." The fact that TradWives on TikTok are violating their basic premise by having a career makes me snort. Also, many of them are coming forward about how abusive and unfulfilling it is in actual practice.

People should live the lives and have the relationships they want - even very conservative and traditional styles, but I suspect the women signing up for Jake Woodard, et al are responding to a world where most men act like boys, and they want to figure out how to connect with someone who isn't that. The world is a complex and sometimes scary place - lots of people are looking for someone else to tell them "the answer" and this is a huge mistake. It's simpler than finding your own path, but it can ultimately never be fulfilling because it's coming from outside yourself.

I've been a certified life coach for close to 20 years, so I know this from personal experience (my own and with clients) as well as training about it.

Patriarchy breeds insecurity - particularly in men, but in everyone really. Most people are dealing with unresolved trauma of some sort as well. Correlation is not causation and anecdote does not equal larger pervasive dynamic. Looking at the surface of something doesn't necessarily tell you much about what is taking place in the subtext.

You seem to be searching for evidence to prove your premise rather than looking at a wide body of data and research from different cultures in order to inform your perspective. Totally fine, you do you, but as a social scientist I have felt the obligation to point out some of the flaws in this. It doesn't seem to have made much of a dent, but oh well, I tried.

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother, I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between.
