Which is exactly what Shannon said. I remember it very clearly. She asked him/them to share her campaign (because that's the way that crowfunding is most successful) and they sneered at her and mocked her - until she finally called them out for that. She has never demanded money from anyone and has always been incredibly grateful to anyone who has supported her in that way.

Here's what Shannon just said about this, which she wrote AFTER I wrote what I did on this comment.

"People don't understand that Tom and I were supposedly friends in a slack writers' group. I didn't want his financial support. I wanted him to treat me like a human being when I asked him to please share my story about a widely misunderstood disease. He really could have declined kindly, you know. He could have just said, sorry, I'm not comfortable sharing that sort of health story. Instead, he said nothing to me... but then, he (and the other guys) mocked me and wrote stories about writers who whine and don't work hard enough etc. All before I called them out. Once I did, that's when he claimed credit for GIVING ME READERS—because he talked about me in his paid courses. Tim did the same thing."

Shannon still has 45K readers and gets a lot of supportive comments on everything she writes. If you think it's inappropriate for someone to advocate for themselves in order to get the surgery they need in order to be able to care for their daughter, then that's on you. Don't read her stuff if you don't like her but the rest is just pettiness.
