Which is why they want to punch something after braiding hair. They’re been forced out of the Man Box and it’s more comfortable to get a chance to get back in a bit. But that's about what society has demanded of them - I don't think it's fundamentally about being a man. There are cultures where men spend a lot of time with playing with and helping to feed/dress young children who I doubt would feel the need to punch something after braiding hair.
I know that there are environments where male violence agains other men is more palpable and/or acceptable, but the fact remains, most men have never been accosted or made to feel afraid by a stranger, most men have not been sexually harassed at work - and most women have experienced these things.
We need to do better - for everyone, but as I see it, men have got to take the lead on that and actively challenge these Man Box demands.
