Why can't you be a part of the group, human being? Gender is a social construct. In some cultures there as many as 7 genders. On Star Trek, nobody talks about what it means to be a woman or to be a man. You are a human being, and a member of Star Fleet. I understand that we can't get there over night, but I don't see why we can't move in that direction.
