Women aren't a monolith (just like men aren't). There are all sorts of things that matter depending on the individual. Tons of women date and marry starving musicians and artists. Lots of women date and marry teachers and social workers. Most women don't want a guy who is going to be a financial drain on them, but that's hardly unreasonable, and again, isn't always the case. I know several women that married men who essentially freeloaded off of them until they finally got sick of it and divorced them.
Most women are attracted to how a man makes them feel. What that "feel" is can vary from woman to woman. For most woman that is going to include some element of financial stability - but as noted above, it's not a universal.
