Women aren't less interested in casual sex - they are less interested in the casual sex that is available to them - where it's not necessarily safe and where it's quite likely to not going to be particularly satisfying or any good. So, as your example illustrates, there is some poor social science that gets published, but if one has a long and broad-scope understanding of the topic at hand, it's a lot easier to spot when that is taking place.
