Yeah, that drives me right up a wall that so many people, including a lot of progressive people, seem to think that the world has always been just like this, except for modern conveniences. People get kind of pissed at me for being pedantic around this but I don't care. I want to interrupt the narrative that "since the beginning of time....." No, not since the beginning of time. Maybe since the beginning patriarchy a few thousand years ago, but even then, it's not necessarily a given.
