Yeah, women don’t actually know why they seek divorce. They need a man to explain it to them. 🙄. And it’s not that 70% of divorcing women say this, it’s that 70% of divorces are initiated by women, and in the case of college-educated women 90%. The “gender equal” part of that statistic is implied — 30% of divorces are initiated by men, and in the case of college-educated men, only 10% are.
70% of judges are men and women aren’t deciding whether or not to leave a marriage where they are taken for granted because of how they expect that the divorce will be adjudicated.

In a separate but related dynamic, middle-aged and older women are increasingly not getting married or married again because they don’t want to go through that kind of dynamic again. They prefer to live separately from their partners so that they aren’t controlled by someone who expects to be caretaken. At least that’s what they report as their reasons but who knows… they probably don’t know their own minds or personal experiences either. 🤷♀️
