Yes absolutely! It’s a culture-wide shift that is needed. When patriarchy arrived in a wide-spread version depends on where one lived on the earth. In some places, it was about 12K years ago, and in some places about 10 or 7. In any case, it’s quite new. And what we are continuing to learn the hard way is that humans are hard-wired for connection, cooperation, and egalitarianism.
Persisting in a culture that is all about competitiveness and the individual is hurting us in so many ways. More about that to come from me in the near future. I’ve just finished read Sebastion Junger’s book Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging and it continues to affirm my belief that we need a less disconnected and individualistic society in order to be mentally and emotionally healthy.
