Yes, this data really does take the wind out of the sails of that argument. In the stories that I read about this the researchers all agreed that old gender tropes about women (and men) had long obscured the real picture. Most of the women who do this have themselves been sexually abused, but it makes more sense to concentrate on why we are such an abusive society as a whole rather than just resorting to a simple narrative about how men are predators and women are prey.
